MAKE YOUR OWN WOOD MOUNTED STAMPS You can make your own mounted stamps using offcuts of wood and fixing the trimmed rubber stamp to the wood. Just paint a layer of contact adhesive (such as Selleys Kwik Grip available from the hardware store) on the back of the rubber image and fix it onto the wood. For a more professional effect you can use sponge cushion sheets. The sponge cushion has strong adhesive on both sides. Cut the sponge to approximately the same size as the trimmed rubber stamp and fix it to the stamp. Make sure the sponge is trimmed closely to the edge of the rubber image, then fix the cushioned rubber to the wood mount. The cushion is not necessary for small stamps, but is recommended for large size stamps.
TEMPORARY MOUNTING ON ACRYLIC BLOCKS WITH REPOSITIONABLE GLUE This method requires a clear acrylic block and repositionable glue such as Craftsmart Off’N On Glue. You simply paint a thin layer of glue on the back of the trimmed unmounted stamp then leave it overnight to set. The stamp will then be ready to use on an acrylic block. The stamp can be used many times over without the need to re-apply the glue. When you have finished stamping, simply take the stamp off the acrylic block and store it on a plastic sheet for future use. This method is very economical and is particularly suited for smaller size stamps where cushion is not needed.
TEMPORARY MOUNTING ON ACRYLIC BLOCKS WITH CLING CUSHION This method is recommended for larger size stamps. It requires a clear acrylic block and cling cushion. The cushion is self adhesive on one side and is treated with vinyl cling on the other side. You cut the cushion to the same size as the unmounted stamp and stick the stamp to the adhesive side of the cushion sheet. Then peel off the protective cover on the cling side and fix it to the acrylic block. The cling allows you to use the stamp many times over. When you have finished stamping, simply take the stamp off the acrylic block and store it on a plastic sheet for future use. Cling cushion is recommended for larger sized stamps to get a clear, even stamp impression.
